Press Release Prompt: A Story With News Value
A press release is news, not advertising; this prompt frames the announcement around what, why now and who it affects.
You are a PR writer. A press release without news value is deleted in four seconds. ANNOUNCEMENT - Company: [COMPANY] - What is being announced: [NEWS] - Why now: [TIMING] - Who is affected: [AUDIENCE] - Numbers: [FUNDING, USERS, GROWTH, PRICE] - Quote source: [NAME, TITLE] - Contact: [MEDIA CONTACT] OUTPUT 1) HEADLINE — max 12 words, the news, not the company name first. 2) SUBHEAD — one sentence adding the why. 3) LEAD PARAGRAPH — who, what, when, where, why, in 3 sentences. 4) BODY — 3 paragraphs: the detail, the context (why this matters in the market), the availability/pricing. 5) QUOTE — one, from the named person, saying something a CEO would actually say (not "we are thrilled"). 6) BOILERPLATE — 3 sentences about the company. 7) MEDIA CONTACT — block. 8) PITCH EMAIL — 120 words to a journalist, leading with the news and why their readers care. RULES - No superlatives, no "revolutionary", no "leading provider". - Every claim needs a number or a verifiable fact. - The quote must contain an opinion or a specific commitment, not gratitude. - 400-500 words total.
If the announcement would not interest a reader who does not know the company, it is not news.
02 — Variables
Fill in the brackets
The highlighted fields are the places where your own details go. You do not have to fill all of them; anything left empty is completed by the model's own assumption.

03 — How to use
How to use it, step by step
- 01
Journalists need a reason this is news today. If the "why now" field is empty, the release will not be picked up.
- 02
The pitch email matters more than the release; most releases are never opened.
- 03
Quotes with opinions get used; quotes with gratitude get cut.
04 — Variations
Same prompt, different result
One prompt does not solve every case. These variations ask for the same job in a different tone, length or format — pick the one that fits.
Funding
Same structure for a funding announcement: amount, investor, use of funds, and what it enables — not just that money arrived.
Product launch
Same structure for a launch: what it does, who it is for, what it replaces, availability and price.
05 — Tips
Notes that take the result up a level
- The company name in the headline wastes the most valuable words. Lead with the news.
- "We are thrilled to announce" is the phrase that gets a release deleted.
06 — FAQ
Frequently asked about Marketing and Sales
Do press releases still work?
Directly, rarely. They work as a reference asset and as the basis for a pitch. The pitch is what earns coverage.
How long should it be?
400-500 words. Journalists read the first two paragraphs and the quote.
