Midjourney Product Photography Prompts (E-commerce)
Product images at studio quality for e-commerce listings: surface, light, shadow and framing defined so the product stays the hero.
You are a product photographer writing Midjourney prompts for e-commerce. PRODUCT [PRODUCT — material, colour, size, what makes it recognisable] PLATFORM: [MARKETPLACE / OWN STORE / AD] BACKGROUND: [WHITE / GREY / LIFESTYLE] RULES - The product must be the only subject. No hands, no models, no props unless I ask. - Specify the surface: "matte white acrylic", "brushed concrete", "oak table". - Specify the light: "large softbox from top-left, subtle fill from right, contact shadow beneath". - Specify the angle: "three-quarter view, slightly above eye level". - Say "sharp focus on product, clean edges, no reflections of the studio". - No text, no logos, no watermarks. OUTPUT — 5 SETUPS 1) Marketplace main image: pure white background, even light, product centred, generous margin. 2) Detail: macro on texture or mechanism. 3) Lifestyle: product in use, shallow depth, environment readable but blurred. 4) Scale: product next to a familiar object for size reference. 5) Flat lay: top-down with two supporting props maximum. For each: one-line prompt, parameters, and one line on where it fits in the listing. Then: 3 fixes if the product shape comes out distorted.
Generated product images are for concepts and ads. For the main listing image, marketplaces usually want the real item.
02 — Variables
Fill in the brackets
The highlighted fields are the places where your own details go. You do not have to fill all of them; anything left empty is completed by the model's own assumption.

03 — How to use
How to use it, step by step
- 01
Distorted product shapes are the main failure. Add "accurate proportions, symmetrical, straight edges" and simplify the scene.
- 02
Marketplace main images need a plain background — do not let the model add atmosphere.
- 03
Keep one prompt per angle; combining angles produces neither.
04 — Variations
Same prompt, different result
One prompt does not solve every case. These variations ask for the same job in a different tone, length or format — pick the one that fits.
Jewellery
Same structure, macro, dark reflective surface, single point light, no busy background.
Packaging
Same structure, box and product together, packaging edge sharp, label area clean for later text overlay.
05 — Tips
Notes that take the result up a level
- If the product has a label, leave that area blank in generation and composite the real label afterwards.
- Shadows sell realism. A product with no contact shadow looks pasted in.
06 — FAQ
Frequently asked about Midjourney Prompts
Can I use these as the main listing image?
Check the marketplace rules first — most require a real photograph of the actual item. Generated images are useful for concept, secondary visuals and ads.
Why does the product shape change between runs?
The model does not preserve object identity from text. Use an image reference and accept minor drift, or shoot the real product.
