STEP 01
Install every Visual C++ Redistributable
Open Microsoft's official 'Supported Visual C++ downloads' page. Under Visual Studio 2015–2022 install both x86 and x64 packages. For older games also install the 2013 and 2010 packages (x86 + x64). Restart the PC afterwards.
If setup says 'already installed' or fails, open Control Panel > Programs and Repair the existing package; otherwise uninstall and reinstall it.

Enable .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8
Open Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows features on or off, tick '.NET Framework 3.5' and '.NET Framework 4.8', click OK and let Windows install the components.

Install the DirectX End-User Runtime

Right-click the game's .exe and choose 'Run as administrator'. If it works, make it permanent in Properties > Compatibility.

Update your GPU drivers
Install the latest graphics driver with a clean install from NVIDIA/AMD/Intel's official apps or websites. Outdated drivers can trigger the same error at launch.

Check system files
Run 'sfc /scannow' in an administrator Command Prompt, reboot when it finishes and try the game again.
Never download msvcp140.dll, d3dx9_43.dll etc. from 'DLL download' sites and paste them into System32 — it doesn't fix 0xc000007b and risks malware.
