  1. STEP 01

    Download your information

    Settings > Accounts Center > Download your information. Request photos, posts and messages in HTML or JSON.

  2. STEP 02

    Check apps that log in with Facebook

    Switch services using 'Log in with Facebook' to email login first, or they may lock you out.

    Convert Facebook login to email login on services like Spotify or Netflix before deleting.

  3. STEP 03

    Open the deletion page

    Go to facebook.com/account/delete and select your account.

  4. STEP 04

    Confirm deletion

    Enter your password and click 'Delete my account'. Facebook announces the 30-day cancel window.

  5. STEP 05

    Don't log in for 30 days

    Logging in — including into Messenger — cancels the deletion.

    Full data cleanup can take up to 90 days after deletion starts.

  • If you manage Pages, assign a new admin first — Pages get deleted with the account.
  • Don't skip the data download if you want memories and posts archived.
