STEP 01
Open Services & subscriptions
Sign in at account.microsoft.com/services with your Microsoft account. The Microsoft 365 Family/Personal row shows status, next billing date and 'Manage subscription'.

Start the cancellation flow
Click 'Manage subscription' > 'Cancel'. Microsoft shows a screen reminding you that OneDrive storage and Office apps close at period end; some versions offer 'turn off recurring billing' as a separate option.
STEP 03
Confirm the cancellation
Press 'Cancel' on the confirmation step. A confirmation email arrives; the subscription ends at period end and does not renew. If eligible, refund options appear on this screen.
STEP 04
Prepare for period-end effects
At period end desktop Word/Excel/PowerPoint go read-only and 1 TB OneDrive drops to 5 GB. Over the limit, files are kept but sync stops; clean or download unneeded files before cancelling.

If you took Microsoft 365 from a mobile store, cancel there: iOS Settings > Subscriptions or Play Store > Payments & subscriptions. account.microsoft.com warns you to cancel via the payment provider in that case.
