01 — Step by Step

Step-by-step fix

  1. Check your contract end date

Sign in at sky.com and open My Sky > Bills & Payments > Contract details. If the minimum term is not over an early cancellation fee applies; the remaining amount is shown there.

  2. Open Message Sky chat

Go to sky.com/help, choose 'Message Sky' and type 'I want to cancel my subscription'. The bot transfers you to the cancellation team; keep the chat transcript.

  3. Start the 31-day notice period

When the agent confirms your request the 31-day notice period begins. The service keeps working during this time; the cancellation date is stated in the confirmation email.

  4. Return equipment within 60 days

Sky emails a prepaid return label for Sky Q mini boxes, the router and remotes. Pack and drop them at the Post Office; keep the receipt for at least 12 months.

  5. Verify the final bill

The final bill covers days up to the end of the notice period. Do not cancel your direct debit early — outstanding balance hits your credit file; request a prorated refund for overcharges.

02 — FAQ

Frequently asked questions

01Why can Sky only be cancelled by phone or chat?
Sky UK intentionally routes cancellations through customer service; there is no online cancellation form. The official channels are the Message Sky chat and the phone line.
02How much is the early cancellation fee?
Remaining contract months × the monthly price; check the minimum term end under My Sky > Contract details. If Sky itself raised prices you may have a penalty-free exit right.
03What happens if I miss the equipment return?
After 60 days Sky charges 20-145 £ per device; even if the label expired you can request a fresh one from Sky customer service.
