Cancel KPN Netherlands (Opzeggen): Close Your Subscription the Official Way

Short answer

You can end a KPN subscription in MijnKPN under Mijn gegevens > Opzeggen, call 0800-0403, or port your number. Dutch subscriptions use a monthly notice period (opzegtermijn) of at least 1 month. Standard KPN modems are not returned; only special devices have a courier pickup.

01 — Step by Step

Step-by-step fix

  1. Sign in to MijnKPN

Open kpn.com/mijnkpn with your DigiD or KPN account. Open 'Mijn producten'; your tariff, opzegtermijn and end date are shown there.

  2. Start the Opzeggen procedure

Click 'Opzeggen' under the product you want to end. The system shows the earliest valid date and active discounts. Pick a reason and confirm; a confirmation email arrives.

  3. Phone alternative

Dial 0800-0403 (free) and say 'Ik wil mijn abonnement opzeggen'. Decline retention offers and ask for a confirmation number. Phone cancellation is legally valid too.

  4. Port your number

To keep the number, start a portering request with the new operator; the KPN line closes automatically on the porting date — no separate opzeggen needed.

  5. Final bill and equipment

The final bill is prorated by day; check it under MijnKPN > Facturen. KPN modems stay with you; only special devices (Extendo etc.) have courier returns.

02 — FAQ

Frequently asked questions

01How much notice does KPN cancellation need?
Under Dutch rules subscriptions cancel with a monthly opzegtermijn: at least 1 month notice. The exact date is on your product page in MijnKPN.
02Do I need to return the KPN modem?
No — standard KPN modems stay with you. Only some special devices have a courier return, which is stated in the confirmation email.
03Can I cancel combi-deal bundles in one go?
Yes — each product has its own Opzeggen link in MijnKPN. Ending them on the same date avoids double billing; verify each date in the confirmation emails.
