STEP 01
Identify the code and model
Note the code (E1, E3 etc.) and the boiler model (ECA Confeo Premix, Felis etc.). Search the official ECA support page for a model-specific table; the same code can mean different things across models.
STEP 02
E1/E2 — flame and overheat checks
Is the gas valve open? Is pressure 1-2 bar? Are radiator valves closed? Check all three: open valves, fill low pressure to 1.5 bar via the loop, reset. For E2 opening all valves matters especially; overheat usually comes from a closed circuit.
STEP 03
E3 — flue/smoke error
With E3, inspect the flue first: blockage, icing or strong wind backpressure. On condensing models the condensate drain may be frozen or blocked. If nothing is visible, call service for a pressure switch/hose fault.
STEP 04
E5-E7 — NTC sensor faults
These are not user-fixable; sensors must be replaced. Power-cycling does not help — sensor resistance must be measured and the part replaced. Open an authorized service ticket.
Do not open the boiler casing; due to gas and electrical safety, internal work must be done by authorized service only.
STEP 05
Use reset correctly
Hold reset for 3-5 seconds at once; rapid repeated presses can lock the board. After reset the boiler enters the ignition cycle within 3-7 seconds; if no flame forms the code returns — do not exceed three consecutive resets.

- Annual pre-winter maintenance prevents most E codes and keeps warranties valid.
- After a power cut, unplugging the boiler for 1-2 minutes resets some board errors.
- The condensate hose under the boiler can freeze; raising the heat setting does not mask an unprotected outdoor line.

Continuously dropping pressure means the filling loop is not fully closed, the expansion vessel is faulty, or there is a leak. Close the loop fully and monitor; more than one drop in 24 hours warrants service — the E code is secondary here.
Are ECA Premix codes different?
Yes. Confeo Premix and Felis Premix series use a different, more detailed code set; modulation/sensor faults get dedicated codes. The model-specific official table is more accurate than general interpretations.
The boiler gave an E code on first startup — summer mode?
In summer mode only hot water runs; with radiator valves closed and the system long off, a transient code at first ignition is possible. Open valves, check pressure and one reset usually suffices.
