STEP 01
Export your data first (Google Takeout)
Go to takeout.google.com, select all products (Gmail, Drive, Photos, YouTube, Contacts, Calendar) and wait for the archive email. After deletion this data becomes inaccessible.
STEP 02
Review connected services and subscriptions
Move or cancel anything tied to this account: app logins, bank/government portals, Google One, Play balance and your YouTube channel. Some services may have this as your only sign-in.
Play Store purchases (apps, movies) are lost with the account. If you run a YouTube channel, it is deleted — move it to a brand account to keep it.

Prepare your Android device
If this is the only Google account on your phone, add a second account in Settings > Accounts or change the backup account. Play Store, Gmail and cloud backups won't work with the deleted account.
STEP 04
Open the official deletion page
Open the 'delete Google account' link at the top of this guide. Google asks for your password again; read the consequences page and tick both confirmation boxes.
STEP 05
Delete the account
Press 'Delete account' to start the process. The Gmail address cannot be re-registered immediately and may stay reserved for security reasons.
STEP 06
Know the recovery window
Deleted by mistake? For a limited time you can restore the account via Google's recovery flow; the window is short and not guaranteed. Act fast.

- Takeout archives can be large — keep disk space and download the archive twice to verify.
- Do the deletion while 2FA still works; a changed phone can block the flow.
- Consider Google's inactive-account policy if you'd rather just stop using the account.
