Phone Fast Charging Not Working: Definitive Fix for All Brands

Fast charging depends on the phone and adapter speaking the same protocol: USB Power Delivery (PD), Qualcomm Quick Charge, Samsung Super Fast Charging or brand-specific standards. Compare the wattage and protocol label on the adapter with your phone's supported standard; plugging a 5W old adapter into a 25W phone produces obvious slowness. The cable must also carry the same wattage; use the manufacturer's cable for full speed.

Cables degrade invisibly: one repeatedly bent inside a coil loses its data lines and passes only slow charging. If possible, test with a second original cable and adapter; if the speed difference is instant, the equipment is the culprit. A "Charging rapidly" style notice should appear on screen; if it never does, the protocol handshake is failing.

Pocket and bag lint packs into the bottom of the USB-C port over time, making the pins fall back to slow protocols. Power off the phone and gently clean the port with a dry, non-static plastic or wooden pick (never metal); short bursts of compressed air are fine. After removing lint, confirm the cable seats fully: if the plug wobbles, lint remains.

Most new phones slow or stop charging past 80-85% to protect battery life: Optimized Charging and the 80% Limit on iPhone, Battery Protection on Samsung, Adaptive Charging on Pixel. If the percentage sticks overnight, that's intentional, not a fault. Also, when the phone overheats, fast charging temporarily disables; removing the case and keeping the device cool restores speed.

Install pending updates under Settings > Software update; charging-controller behavior is regularly improved in updates. If the problem persists, test in safe mode or a different outlet; if other phones fast-charge on the same adapter, the fault is in the phone and service inspection is needed.
