STEP 01
Restart the printer and computer
Unplug the printer for 30 seconds, restart the PC, then plug the printer back in. This simple cycle alone fixes half of offline states.
STEP 02
Clear the print queue
Open services.msc, stop the Print Spooler service, delete the files in %windir%\System32\spool\PRINTERS and start the service again. Stuck jobs make the printer appear offline.
You can also cancel pending jobs manually under Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > your printer > Open print queue.

Make sure the printer is added by IP
Check the printer's network info on its panel and note the IP. In Windows printer properties > Ports, confirm the port IP matches; if not, add a new Standard TCP/IP port.

Pin the printer's IP address
In your router's admin panel (192.168.1.1 etc.), create a DHCP reservation to give the printer a fixed IP. A changing IP is the most common silent cause of offline errors.

Disable SNMP status
In Port properties (Ports tab > Configure port) untick 'SNMP Status Enabled' and press OK. This known HP fix stops false offline reporting.

On wireless, join 2.4 GHz and re-add with HP Smart
Most HP printers run on 2.4 GHz and can't see 5 GHz. Connect the printer to your 2.4 GHz network, re-add it with the HP Smart app and update drivers from HP's official site.
